On A Very Serious Note...
When someone rapes you, it's hard to deal with.
Sometimes you can't at all.
I suppressed what happened to me.
And now that I'm mentally feeling better, I can say that it wasn't okay.
It's something I'm going to have to deal with every day in ways that I'm not even fully aware of.
But it's not a crutch.
It's not an excuse for the things that go wrong in your life.
How someone deals with their experiences, is on them.
I'm here to say that even though I was raped, I don't feel like it's harmed my life for the future. I will be making my own future brighter. And rape free.
If someone reaches out to you, who has suffered through any kind of physical abuse: listen with an open heart. Don't judge. Give love and possibly a shoulder to cry on. Then tell them that the only way that person can truly win, is if you let them by letting it bring you down.
